The manufacturing plant.
Surface mounted devices (SMD) turned out to be very convenient. Much
less drilling holes.
Top side.
The relay had to be added later. The original opto-isolator was not
enough to switch on the car heater.
Bottom.
The separate keypad is very convenient for construction.
A bunch of thin wire-wrap wire is very bulky even in this "bulky" phone.
This photo shows the connection to the earpeace and buzzer. Notice, that
the keypad PCB is fully functional on this side even though several wires
are connected to it.
This is the hard way to connect the wires. I wanted the phone to be
neat, so there had to be a connector. Just drilling a hole to suitable
places in the housing would have been much easier.
But it is neat.
Taking the antenna to an external BNC connector.
The PCB and GSM are connected with connectors, so they can easily be
taken out.
Notice again, that all the keys are functional (except the power key,
that has to be operated with a screw driver).
I will add a couple of pictures of the fitting to the trunk and the
location of the GSM antenna.
