Period II (1520-1559)

1: ACT OF SUPREMACY (historical date: 1534)
(duration: permanent)

1. Takes only place if the event reform (8:I/13:II) has already occured for the second time. Otherwise re-roll.

EVENTS PHASE:
The event affects ENG according to its current religion:
1. Protestantism:
    a. All catholic/counter-reform major powers and also POR receive a temporary CB against ENG.
    b. Event 7:IV (English Civil War) is immediately activated and marked off.
2. Catholic/concilitorianism:
    a. ENG becomes protestant as defined in the event 8:I (Reformation). Both general and particular effects of the event are applied immediately.
    b. ENG receives 250d.
    c. All catholic/counter-reform major powers and also POR receive a temporary CB against ENG.
3. Catholic/counter-reform:
    a. All protestant major powers receive a temporary CB against ENG.
    b. Event 7:IV (English Civil War) is immediately activated and marked off.

2: WAR BETWEEN SWEDEN AND DENMARK (historical date: 1563-70)
(duration: until the end of the Swedish-Danish war)

1. Takes only place if the event 8:II has already occurred and only if either (not necessarily both) Sweden and Denmark are currently inactive. Otherwise re-roll.

EVENTS PHASE:
1. Denmark declares war on Sweden (or vice-versa if Denmark is not inactive). Allies can join this war as per normal rules.
2. If no allies join Denmark or Sweden at this point, they are regarded to wage war against each other for the next two turns without anyone actually playing them. During this time no diplomacy can be made on them, but if war is declared to one, the other immediately joins the aggressor in EG status and their troops are deployed as per normal rules.

PEACE PHASE:
1. After two turns, and if still being waged only between these two minors the war ends in a white peace and the event terminates.
2. If players have been involved in this war on either side, peace is made according to normal procedure without any special restrictions. However, provinces owned at the beginning of the war by either Sweden or Denmark cannot be ceded to anyone else than the other of these two.

3: WAR IN ITALY (historical date: 1521-26/1526-30/1536-39/1542-44/1552-59)
(duration: until the end of the Franco-Spanish war)

1. Cannot occur if event 4:I (War in Italy) is still in effect. In that case re-roll and do not mark off.
2. If FRA is protestant, or there is French MILANO, consider this event as played and mark off.
3. Catholic FRA can refuse this event (mark it off and consider as played) by loosing immediately 2 Stab.
4. If FRA does not refuse this event, the owner of MILANO (SPA in case of Habsburgs) can do so by loosing 3 Stab and ceding MILANO to FRA.

DIPLOMATIC PHASE:
1. FRA receives a compulsory CB against the owner of MILANO lasting two turns. It must either use this CB during these turns or refuse the event as above.

What follows applies only after FRA has declared war:

2. FRA has a bonus of +2 for its diplomacy for Toscana and a bonus of +1 for Papacy and Parma during the next two diplomacy phases.
3. If event 4:I has not already done so, the following permanent effects come immediately into force. Otherwise they shall never take effect:
    a. From now on military counters of FRA, SPA and Habsburgs/Austria/AUT have access to the territory of all Italian minors (excluding Venice) during every turn they are themselves actively engaged in a war.
    b. Only permission to travel through, or stay in, the territory of the minors is provided, not the use of their fortressess as supply bases or for any other purpose.
    c. The effects in a) and b) above do not apply between enemies during a war.

MILITARY PHASE:
1. Savoia provides supply for FRA during the first turn after the declaration of war unless it is itself at war against FRA. This temporarily overrides normal minor alliance effects although diplomatic marker of Savoia is not affected.

LASTING EFFECTS:
1. FRA receives a CB against the owner of MILANO until the end of period II.

(duration: until the end of Persian-Turkish war)

1. Takes place only if Persia is inactive. Otherwise re-roll.

EVENTS PHASE:
1. Persia declares war against TUR.
2. TUR can immediately call allies as per normal rules.
3. If this leads to declarations of war against Persia, the controller of Persia may come to its help as per normal rules, and so on.
4. If Persia is neutral, it is played by SPA (who cannot then come to its aid).

ADMINISTRATION PHASE:
1. Persia receives reinforcements on offensive status for the duration of this war.

6: TURKISH VASSALLISATION OF ALGERIA (historical date: 1529)

EVENTS PHASE:

2. TUR can immediately call allies as per normal rules.
3. If this leads to declarations of war against Poland, the controller of Poland may come to its help as per normal rules, and so on.
4. If Poland is neutral, it is played by ENG (who cannot then come to its aid) unless another player is already at war with TUR in which case it joins that war in EG of that country (in case of several players SPA is preferred).

ADMINISTRATION PHASE:
1. Poland receives reinforcements in offensive status for the duration of the war.

8: END OF THE UNION OF KALMAR (historical date: 1523)

1. If event Reform (8:I/13:II) has not yet occurred twice, re-roll and do not mark off.
2. The effects of this event end automatically when event 1:IV occur.

EVENTS PHASE:
1. Hessen, Saxony, Thuringen and Wurttemburg (only if still protestant) form a defensive league. From now on every declaration of war against one of its members is considered as a declaration of war against all.
2. The emperor player (SPA in case of Habsburgs) looses the control of all the members of the league and can no longer make diplomatic actions on them. This condition applies to whomever is currently emperor at any given point while this event is in effect.
3. If the league is still in existence when event 1:IV occurs, all its members automatically join the protestant side without rolling dice. This also terminates the event.

DIPLOMACY PHASE:
1. The country of the emperor (not the player) receives a permanent CB against the league. This CB applies always to the current emperor (including the Habsburgs) and becomes a free CB if the emperor is also the Sole Defender of Catholic Faith.
2. If war is declared, the members of the league are played by their controllers according normal rules. However, they are considered as allies to each other for purposes of stacking, supply and rights of passage.

MILITARY PHASE:
1. League forces are always moved at the same time. If players have declared war on behalf of some members of the league, the movement of the league forces follows normal rules. If there are no player allies, the league forces are moved when the last of their controllers move.

PEACE PHASE:
1. Each member of the league is treated separately for purposes of making peace. Thus any number of peace treaties can be made during a turn with them and no separate peace malus is applied for even when the league has active major power allies. Having once signed a peace a member of the league no longer joins back in the same war, but can do so in another war.
2. However, if forced to unconditional surrender a member of the league automatically leaves it becoming again a normal minor power. This condition is in addition to any other conditions demanded by the victor.
3. If Hessen or Saxony is forced to leave the league, it collapses and all the effects of this event are permanently terminated.

2. For the duration of the event deductions caused to the Grand Orient trade centre by the placement of colonies/TPs shall be at least 50d whatever the number of colonies/TPs present (even if there are none at all). If this deduction is already higher than 50d, it is not affected by this event.
