My name is Markus Ilvonen. I was born in Kangasala, Finland August 16th 1979. I started been a Short Wave Listerner 1988 at the age of 8. Early 1988 I got my SWL-callsign OH3-725. Still I send some SWL-cards to DX-stations and hope to get some answers also. The reason why I choice this hobby was that my father has been a ham since 1974. His callsign is OH3FX. I go to ham radio course in 1989 with my mother. I learn CW more than good but teacnical part was too hard for me. January 1992 I pass the han radio exam and got my first licence and callsign OH3KCB. At the same time my grandfather got also his licence. He doesn't have been so active. His callsign is OH3KIJ. Since 1992 I have been active on 80, 40, 15, 10 and 2m bands. In 1997 I got callsign OH0KCB to use in Ålann Islands. Late 1997 finally I pass the finnish extra class test. When it became leagal to get a vanity callsign in Finland I got my callsign OH3RM.

Nowdays I have 30000+ QSOs from my home station in 8 years. I have worked 306 of 334 countries and got QSL-card from 292 countries. DXing is one of the best thing in ham radio. In 1992 I was first time out side of OH-land. We were in Åland Islands working with our scout radio club callsign OG0SAP. So far best has been 1995 Malyj Vysotskij Island expedition. I remember it still when I was asking QRZ de OH2BU/MVI on 20m CW and there was every station from Europe calling. RTTY is a great mode. 1997 OH3NE Contest Team were in Åland Islands working WPX RTTY Contest as OH0M. We got the 3rd place in world and 1st in Europe in Multi/Multi class. IOTA Contest is very popular. 1999 I was first time working in island, EU-034, as ES0I. We had a multi national team operated by Tiit ES7RE (sk Dec 1999), Brent W5WW and Markus OH3RM. Outside of the contest I made QSOs as ES0/OH3RM. Autumn 1999 OH0KCB was active first time. In a one week I made 2400+ QSOs with FT-1000MP, Drake linear and R7000. This is begining.... ;)

To keep me busy I am member of administrative board of Finnish Amateur Radio League - SRAL, Award Manager of SRAL, president of Radioclub of Kangasala OH3ABN, secretary of Finnish Short Wave Listeners OH3SWL, secretary of Radioclub of Tampere OH3NE. I am also member of Radioclub of Valkeakoski OH3AB, Contest Club Finland - CCF and World Wide Young Contesters.
