February 2006 - garage almost finished!
This chapter is dedicated to a longtime workmate and a friend, Pekka Mörsky, who passed away in January 2006
Well, didn't quite get the garage ready by the end of the year 2005. This picture was taken in February 2006. No, the Buick hasn't been radically chopped. Both Cobra and Buick are covered by snow.

Some unexpected mishaps have taken place. First of all, my electrician, also a longtime workmate and friend, got fatally sick from cancer, and passed away soon after. He was the one who introduced me in the world of sewing with an industrial sewing machine. It is funny how you sometimes don't realize the influence of some people until they are gone. Anyways, it took me a while to recover and find another electrician to finish the job.

In February, my wife Tuula was on a snowmobile safari, lost control of the snowmobile, hit a tree and broke her leg badly. She was operated and it'll take some months to cure. So I'm spending most of my time with the family and household.

Finally, on February 26th, the garage was ready (enough) to invite the old Buford to a visit.

I asked the girls to dance around  while I took the photo!

Why are the garages usually painted off-white or grey or something alike ? I decided to use some color and paint it mediterranean blue. Why not?

The lights on the walls are supposed to aid in painting the car. I wonder when that'll be...

The Buick started surprisingly easy. However, when I pushed the brake  pedal the first time, the brakes jammed. I tried the good old back-and-forth trick to ease up the brakes, but no success. The front brakes jammed but the street being slippery, I managed to gain enough speed to drive it in, leaving some streaks on the floor!

At this point I'm not sure if there will be any time to work on the Buick before the housebuilding starts, but I'm hopeful.

Meanwhile, let's be  active on the Straight-8 forum at http://www.teambuick.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=91
I'm supposed to be the moderator of the STR-8 talk. So far all I have done is to try and provoke some discussion there. On that forum there are people who were hotrodding these engines while these were new! And still are. Who knows what we'll come up with - we're all THAT crazy about the Buick I-8's !
